I don't usually do this.
Envy's first official retcon.
Greetings my mighty loyalist,
Update Synopsis and intro
As I try to hash out Envy’s development, it gets a little messy to mingle inside the rest of what is going on. Her character arcs are feeling a little too straight forward, and I want to do them justice. So I’m going to discuss the upcoming change that I will send out to everyone and a little of the process that brought me to this change.
What I have published at the moment for this part of Envy’s journey feels a little too undeserved as far as the revelation that is suppose to happen. I am referring to Update 7.

You can even tell I rushed these pages a little. I was not entirely happy with what I wrote, but I was not sure what else to do! Typically, if I face a hiccup in the writing, it’s in hindsight that I see it, and I can usually maneuver the script to match the art. But for this, I actively knew it just wasn’t that strong. I think it affected everything on this page. I still didn’t know what else to do, and wanted to get to the rest of the story.
Last week, though, I was in bed, and just had a much more vivid idea of this portion in the story. A much more believable, interesting, and impactful version of the entire scene. At least to me. But yes, in bed. Just before sleep, and this is important, it was so so compelling I had to write the cliff notes in my phone. I will forget these critical things by the time the morning comes around. It has happened more times than I like to admit.
So now, those original pages are getting scrapped for your behind the scenes, and I am making brand new pages to put the nail in this character arc. If you know me, though, you know I DO NOT like retcons. If I go back and change something that happened in issue 2 that requires new art and scrapped pages, then I may have just altered the entire story. Everything that is published, printed, and understood are foundations of the story, even if they’re weak, they’re holding everything up. So making renovations is very hard to to right without bringing the building down. The good thing about this, is I caught early enough for it to not hurt. There are not too many bricks on top of it, you could say. So I want to do the story justice where and when I can.
I also have to mention that this is where being an independent creator really works in my favor. I’m not a brilliant writer, but I try to make sure everything makes sense. It is one of the core principals of my brand. If the story needs a fix, im on no tight deadline to give it the care it needs.
So I hope you are looking forward to this update because I think it is going to be a lot more meaningful for our strange protagonist. And yes it will be in the final print of this issue 4.
